Joint Learning Workshop on Civic Driven Change

Welcome to the website for the Joint Learning Workshop on CDC!
From August 31 – September 2, 2009 a group of 24 practitioners from around the world came together in Doorn, the Netherlands to jointly reflect upon our experiences in the Action Learning Case Studies and distill lessons from practice about Civic Driven Change.

In the past 12 months, nine Action Learning Case Studies (ALCS) were undertaken by the Centre with a variety of partner organisations. The purposes of the Joint Learning Workshop, with representatives from all these case studies, were to:

a. distil lessons on how Civic Driven Change processes take place;
b. reflect on implications for development/change policies and operational guidelines;
c. reflect on how citizen's initiated and led change can be applied/enhanced in practice;
d. review the Action Learning Case Study methodology

In addition to abovementioned purposes the workshop aimed to contribute to the emergence of a community of practitioners on Civic Driven Change processes.

During the workshop, the first day focused on the sharing of experiences and creating a common understanding of the different ALCS that were conducted. On the second day, a concept mapping exercise was done around the question what 'adequate citizen-led change processes entail'. On the third day the implications of the outcomes of the concept mapping for all the organisations involved, as well as the wider sector, were further explored.
